Destinations / Airports on Maui

Where is Kahului on Maui?

Kahului (OGG)

All the car rental companies are located at the parking garage next to the airport. Leave the baggage claim area and cross the street and you will see an "old-fashioned" train. Take that train and it will bring you straight into the parking garage (less than one mile away) where all the agencies are located.

Kahului Airport is located on the northern edge of the land bridge between Haleakala and the West Maui Mountain Range on the island of Maui. The airport occupies 1391 acres of land and is located just a couple of miles east of the town of Kahului.

Where is Kaanapali on Maui?

Kaanapali (JHM)

Here, to get the free shuttle, go to the courtesy phone at the wall just inside the little house. Dial the 2-digit number and ask the agent to send a pick-up shuttle.

The Kapalua Airport is a commercial service airport that is served by commercial propeller air carriers and commuter/air taxi aircraft only. Access to this airport is provided from a two-lane road off of Honoapiilani Highway.

Where is Wailea on Maui?

Wailea

Wailea is probably the most upscale resort area on Maui. Resort lodging opportunities include the Grand Wailea Resort, the Fairmont Kea Lani Resort, the Four Seasons Maui Resort, as well as upscale condo rentals. There is only one car rental agency we book for in Wailea and that is Budget.

Where is Kihei on Maui?

Kihei

Kihei, on Maui’s southwest shore, is a Beach and Condo paradise. It is one of the driest spots on the island of Maui. There are many beautiful beaches in Kihei, such as Kalama Beach Park, Charley Young Beach, and the three Kamaole Beach Parks to name a few.

Planning Your Visit to Maui

For Hawaii the same visa rules apply as for any visit to the USA. Make sure you have a valid driver’s license for the USA. It is rather warm and sunny in Hawaii most of the year, so pack lightly, but don’t forget some clothing for occasional rain. Whether you visit Hawaii on a cruiseship or come here by plane to one of the airports, car rental opportunities are always nearby.

There are so many books and websites and pictures you can use to help plan and prepare for your stay. You can either prepare your visit with a detailed plan which you follow, or "go with the flow" and on each new day freshly decide what you will do. In any case, it’s good to have a good overview of the Hawaiian Islands — Maui, Kauai, Oahu and Big Island — and what they offer. A rental car gives you the flexibility on each island to explore it freely and spontaneously or to go on long trips.

5 Tips on planning a vacation on Maui

  1. When planning your Maui vacation, first pick the region you want to stay at. The towns of Kihei, Wailea or Makena on South Maui offer beautiful resorts and condos and this is the region that has 100% sunshine all the time.
  2. Lahaina at West Maui is a bustling coastal town that offers you great nightlife opportunities for your evenings. For golfers, Kaanapali, Kapalua and Wailea with their golf resorts on the water are the perfect choice.
  3. Hana Town at East Maui is a tropical paradise with lush rainforests and waterfalls and you can rent a cozy condo and drive along the Hana Road from there.
  4. Based on which part of the island you picked for your stay, choose the rental car that offers enough space for both you and all of your luggage and that gets you to all the destinations you want to go to. Take advantage of our great car rental rates.
  5. Are you more of a resort-goer, an explorer or an adventure seeker? For the first group, staying at the beachfront is the perfect choice, while the second type is best suited with a rental car that will bring them to any desired destination. For adventurers, there are plenty of exciting activities to choose from like whale watching, sailing or hiking.

FAQ Car Rental Hawaii

Once the car is confirmed, we’ll send you a confirmation email which contains the confirmation number as well as the final price. This price is not going to change unless you purchase additional services or upgrades.

Please note: Taxes are subject to change without notice. The government can add or raise taxes — however, we cannot take responsibility for any tax changes.

You will receive a personal confirmation number after we have placed the reservation for you. This number guarantees you the specified rental car. You can always call the rental car company directly to verify this information — but note: they can’t change or cancel your reservation over the phone. Since you booked on our site, their website doesn’t show the reservation. Nonetheless, it is present in the systems which the agencies and their call center access for various logistical purposes.

Once the car is confirmed (with a confirmation number), the reservation is guaranteed. So make sure that you have your reservation number ready when you approach the rental car agency for pick-up.

At our site you find cars in all sizes and from all rental agencies all over Hawaii. So, you don’t have to bother about which agency to choose — you simply select your dates and the car of your choice. We show you the cars available and their prices. You select the option you like best.

When you book the car on our site, we will need your email address. The following happens in the background:

  1. We make a binding reservation in the system of the rental agency for the car and the time that you chose.
  2. You get a confirmation via email — and the confirmation number entitles you to pick up the car at the rental agency at the selected pick-up location.
  3. You pay — at the rental car agency — the price we confirmed in the email (only taxes are "subject to change").
  4. If you want to change or cancel your reservation, you contact us.

So, you have the broadest selection of cars, the greatest flexibility of times and pick-up locations and drop-off locations, and you profit from our good prices. And you pay only when you actually pick up the car. And if you have any questions, you can always contact us.
